How has travel changed your life?
Well, one minute I was just a girl from Maine at a family reunion. The next minute I was getting yelled at in a language I didn’t (French) understand for ‘walking up the wrong side of the bridge’ (read with a French accent) into Canada.
I got scared and turned around. Its not like I even had money for a candy bar or anything.
So, that very first ‘trip’ to a foreign country at 10 years old made me realize I should at least learn SOMETHING in the language of the country I wish to visit.
I could write so much more about how travel has changed me; but this very first ‘trip abroad’ taught me the best lesson yet..
LEARN AT LEAST A LITTLE OF THE LOCAL LANGUAGE!
CHEERS!

About Dani Blanchette
I am a freelance travel and music photographer and creator of GoingNomadic.com.
I love music, food, and exploring cities without guidebooks. I’ve flown a helicopter, hitchhiked down the east coast USA, and once snuck into the back of a zoo (in Serbia) and pet a lion.
I am always up for an adventure, and sometimes I videotape them.
